1940 ford emergency brake
Still working on my "basket case" 40 Ford. Ready to reinstall the parking brake lever under the dash. At this point , I don't know if I have all the parts to do so. It looks like it should attach to the under side of the dash and then again to the underside of the firewall. Looks like the cable itself has to take a pretty quick downward bend to get to the firewall hole grommet.
Can anybody take a picture or two of this area under the dash to show how this lever is attached please? Would there be any additional brackets on either end of the parking brake assembly?? Any further comments or ideas would help too. Thanks! Steve |

Re: 1940 ford emergency brake
I'm also working on my "basket case" '40 Ford. Just went thru installing parking brake lever. No picture, I will try to explain. The top attaches to a vertical flange/tab at the windshield surround. The bottom attaches thru the "sloped" portion of the fire wall, appox. 2" below the hood hinge bolt holes. The bracket lines up side to side with the ashtray. The cable passes thru a horizontal oblong hole in the bottom vertical brace on the firewall. I have three different styles, different lengths , two cast steel and one stamped steel, commercial vs passenger? Hope this helps.

http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...mergency+brake Rear wheel E-brake looks like photo along with E-Brake adjustment info. I use a bathroom scale against the front of the bottom front seat and a short 2x4 against the brake pedal to maintain the pounds pressure. Last edited by 19Fordy; 01-11-2017 at 04:33 PM. |
