Default Clutch question

My clutch pedal goes down towards the floor approximately 1-2 inches before I shift. Is this correct? It shudders a little when I first pull out, but changes gears very smoothly. Only shudders at pull out no matter if I pull out in first or second gear. I'm just wondering if I need additional adjustment on the pedal. Thanks

Default Re: Clutch question

You probably have a warped pressure plate/flywheel and or clutch fingers out of adjustment .
If it’s tolerqble I’d adjust the free play for 3/4 inch free travel or it it’s not tolerable a clutch job may be in order

Clutch free-play should be about 1-1.5". So your's is OK. Chatter is generally caused by pressure plate fingers [ other things can affect it also] not making contact equally. They can be checked thru the inspection cover, but, a little chatter isn't bad.
