Default Gas tank question

Hey Y’all. Got a question for you.
In 2006 I bought a brand new steel gas tank for my 34 Ford. I bought it from Bob Drake.
Due to some job changes I didn’t drive the car for a couple of years- like 2017- 2019, but I kept the tank full of ethanol-free gas. When I got back to it and ran it a bit, I noticed the see through fuel filters were all brown inside. Since I have one of the filters that can be taken apart and cleaned, I did that and found that it was filled with rust particles. It seems like the inside of the tank is disintegrating.
I must admit to being surprised. Is this typical of Drakes tanks?
What would you do if this was your car?

I would pull it and drain it and take a look. You could likely get it hot tanked at a rad shop or engine rebuilder.

Tank? Bad (dirty) fuel during past fill? Rusting lines?

I would start by draining the tank and filter it with a piece of white cloth to see what you have.

I would not be surprised if the "ethanol free" gas while free of ethanol might have a few polar solvent nbs's as additives. Truth in advertising and meeting EPA rules for oxygen content, but a blend just as corrosive.

* nbs="nasty bad stuff"
