Worst idea since New Coke!
Don't get me wrong. I think Rust-oleum makes good paint that I use it on both home projects and some model A parts, but the guy who decided to change to the new design nozzle should be fired! The only thing the new Rust-oleum nozzle does is guarantee that it WILL clog and be impossible to clean and WILL leak all over your hand and maybe your work!
So Rust-oleum, please ditch the "new nozzle" and give us your product with standard nozzles that we can remove, clean and replace if needed!!! |

Re: Worst idea since New Coke!
If they have a phone number on the can, be sure to call and complain. I've also made a mess trying to use the new nozzle. I wish when something works well they would just leave it alone. You hear that Microsoft?????

Re: Worst idea since New Coke!
I contacted the Rust-oeum people about their crappy nozzles and got this reply:
================== "Hi Paul, Thank you for contacting Rust-Oleum Product Support. We are sorry to hear of the problems that you are having with our Universal cans. Occasionally, pieces of pigment can settle down at the bottom of the spray can. Inside the can is a dip tube that pulls the paint from the bottom of the can to the tip. If the pigment in the paint is too big or if there’s not enough pressure behind it, it can get stuck in the tube or tip and the paint wont spray. If the clog is in the tip, wiping it with mineral spirits should clear it out; if the clog is the tube, there is unfortunately no way to clear it. Keeping the nozzle clean, by wiping off with a rag after each use should help keep it from clogging with dried paint. If you can provide the product and batch codes from the underside of the can(s) we can look into this further. We would also be happy to issue a refund for the product. Attached is a photo identifying the product and batch codes from our can. Please note that these may vary slightly in placement / location on the can itself. Sincerely, Corinna We have registered your complaint in our database. Please refer to the File Number in the Subject line of this e-mail for any future reference to this complaint. " ================== I sent them the picture they requested along with one of the mess the nozzle created. So we will see. . . But I also ordered Krylon from Amazon to give it a try! |

Re: Worst idea since New Coke!
I agree completely! I have found wiping it as soon as I'm finished using it does help... but not 100%.
Have you tried Krylon recently? LOVE the nozzle and spray pattern!!! Waaaay better than Rustoleum. |

Re: Worst idea since New Coke!
I got another email from Rust-oleum asking me for details about problems I had with their nozzle. This is what emailed back:
The new nozzle design is unnecessarily complex with a long path for the paint to travel before spraying, and doesn’t improve the spraying experience significantly over a regular nozzle. When a clog occurs there is no way to remove and clean/replace the new nozzle and the can even if mostly full must be thrown out. In addition on a number of occasions a failure of the new nozzle inside the cap has resulted in paint dripping out all over my hand and work! I Just can’t trust this new design to provide consistant performance. Until Rust-oeum conforms to the “KISS” (keep it simple stupid) engineering principle and returns to industry standard nozzles, I’ll be using Krylon.: |

Re: Worst idea since New Coke!
The. Big problem is they don't care ! You are one of millions of customers and they could not care less. Likely the person that contacted you is a contractor with no vested interest ! Wayne
