Default Another Evaporust Victory & A model A Trivia Challenge

I got this rusty mess on E-bay. After a session in a Harbor Freight Ultrssonic cleaner filled with Evaporust it came out clean as a whistle!

Challenge: What is it?

No correct answers to the challenge so far.
Hint: It was available for use on Model A Fords from 1930 (the date on the instructions) on.

It's a valve spring compresor, but it didn't work, so I quit making them.

Notice it even has my initial on the end of the lever.

It is a "SPARK STARTER" made by Sanders-Allen, Memphis, Tennessee. It starts the car by depressing the spark rod. It is placed between floor board and starter rod and the arm goes on spark rod. When spark rod is placed in retard position, it pushes the apparatus apart, which depresses the starter. I have one.

I have to use my rubber tipped cane to push the starter button. Previously used my LOOONG Snap-On Phillips screwdriver, but that's hard, when you "chug" it in the DARK & there's 17 PLASTIC cars behind you!!! BUT, folks are NICE, whin they all passed me, they gave me a THUMBS UP, I wuz expecting to see those FINGERS up. I DO get "RESPECT"!!

AND WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Good job Bill and Jallison15!!
It is not called an "Upstarter", but that is its function - it starts your model A when the spark control is pushed all the way up!

I am curious. How well does it work? Should I install it or add it to the "museum".

Pgerhardt,
You mentioned Ultrasonic Cleaners. I found that an old Ultrasonic Foot Washer does a great job. I fill mine with Tide & water & some aquarium gravel, (PURPLE) & it does a GREAT job cleaning small parts. Would probably work with your Evaporust. A friend de-rusted some stuff in his foot washer, using straight VINEGAR & aquarium gravel. Some FOOTWASHERS even HEAT the water!!
TIP: I've found foot washers & other electrical stuff, in the dumpster behind the Drug Store, with the cords CUT OFF??? They look like new & after I put on a cord, they work FINE!!! Even find SEALED bottles of WINE, sometimes, STILL lookin' for PEANUT BUTTER

Not as good as free behind the drug store, but I got mine from Harbor Freight with one of those "Wow" coupons they send you - very cheap. BTW this one also heats the cleaning liquid steaming hot!
