Default 36 car windshield weather strip

What brand are you having the best luck with? I have one from Dennis Carpenter and the rubber is hard and does not want to fit into the grove.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I had a similar problem installing a DC rubber seal/gasket in a '35-'36 windshield frame, but thought it was partially due to not installing it until several years after it was purchased. I tried every trick in the book to install it correctly, but finally got so frustrated, I ripped it out of the frame and trashed it. The next one I tried was Bob Drakes formed corner rubber windshield gasket. It was about twice the cost of his standard, non formed corner version, but it installed very easily, and I thought is was well worth the additional cost.
One thing I did find, after failing with the DC gasket, was the gasket locating channel in the frame still had remnants of the old original gasket that needed to be thoroughly cleaned out. I made a special cutting/scraping tool to accomplish that.

Has anyone tried the gasket from Steele Rubber products?

I have used Carpenter windshield gaskets with few problems. First, be sure to get the correct gasket. They sent me one for a closed car, instead of my convertible. They are different, even if the supplier says they are all the same. If the rubber isn't pliable, it is likely the piece is old, and will not install without tearing the outed flange. Be sure the metal edge around the edge of the opening is clean and not bent anywhere. Installation is a two person job. If you haven' done it before, Carpenter published very good two page instruction.
