Default Anyone heard from swoopNZ lately?

Don't know if anyone has heard from swoop lately but I suspect he may have passed recently. swoopNZ is Chris Tompkins and he is from New Plymouth,New Zealand. I have meet him once and his thing is 37 to 39 coupes mainly and he bought and sold many. I've done him the odd favour in the past like picking up parts he's bought locally to me and have helped get them to him.

I saw a death notice on-line for a Chris Tompkins from New Plymouth, who died at the local hospice there on 13 Nov and he was 78. I imagine there would not be too many Chris Tompkins in New Plymouth. Perhaps some of the other NZ Barners may know?

Oh my gosh, Chris and I have enjoyed a great relationship for years. I am guilty of not contacting him for about a month or so.

It probably is the man you mention. A certain loss for humanity. He was one of the great ones.

Sorry to hear that. My condolences. In another decade or so I'm afraid our passion/hobby is headed for some major changes. Most folks on this board and others are long in the tooth (wayy past geezerhood).

Just checked and sadly he passed Nov 13th. I checked it in Death Notices Taranaki Times.
Last contact from him was jusy over a month ago. Picture of his latest 39 project with his son. He had recently helped me with some bits for a 38 Deluxe Coupr.
A great guy just giving help right to the end for the much loved 39 Fords.
RIP Chris [ Swoop}

Yes only met him once in person at his home in Bellbock. Nice guy, very friendly but struck me as being quiet a private person but in a nice way. Before I met him he sent me an ignition switch and lock assembly for my 48 for no cost, not even postage. I returned the favour by picking up a few parts for him he had purchased on-line down here and getting them up to him. Will be missed. RIP Swoop/Chris.

With all us "long in the tooth" folks, maybe another forum category something like "Out the Barn Door" listing members and their forum of any of the forums, who have passed. Many of us know people who have cars in other forums within this site. Unfortunate but maybe a useful idea.

Most excellent idea.

As long as we are discussing a "wish list";
All of us have "legacy" cars destined for our children or Gchildren.
I'd like to see a data base compiled from the best flathead owners/mechanics anywhere (the people on this forum) and published at the top. Listed by component as an example. I would think everything that could be done to our old Fords has been tried by someone here.
