Why don't you ask the supplier who sold you the conversion parts that caused you to lose the original pinion backset setting? As this forum is primarily for stock A's, there are not too many people here running those type of extreme mods. Perhaps you should ask on the H.A.M.B.? You didn't say whether it is the excellent two-bearing conversion with built-in speedo drive sold by Auto Restorations in Muncie, IN. or one of the junky one-bearing jobs sold to rodders.

Mr. Ratrod:

I don't know anything about open drive shaft conversions, but if you are using a stock Model A banjo and a stock Model A pinion gear, the adjustment is made with the two very large nuts that are screwed onto the pinion gear sleeve. The bottom nuts sets the preload, which is a nominal 20 inch pounts of torque to rotate it. The second nut locks the first nut. There is a locking washer in between with tabs that are bent over to lock both nuts into place.

Adjust the pinion bearings like Tom Endy says. If that is the same rear end that you were running before, the rest of the settings should not have changed.
