Cool ignition switch issues

I recently purchased a '31' coupe with only 1 key. Can't find a keyblank for the pop-out style switch because it is imported. Does anyone know if I can replace this switch without replacing the cable, as well?

I don't think you can do much with those old repro switches. You can get a new cable and modern switch from Bratton's or Snyder's for about $25. Or Dick Crabtree restores original popouts and can sell you one that's correct for your car. I think they're about $175. Pricey, but they're perfect.

Those old import popouts are notorious for shorting out anyway. I'd just hang it on the wall and get a replacement.

I had the same problem, took the key to a locksmith and he made me extra from blanks that he had

Sounds familar - last Year I bought a 31 coupe with a pop out switch with only one key - the key is flat on one side ( no groves) the local locksmith said " no problem - I can use a key with groves on that side " he made a key that works - he used a hillman key blank # IL8
Hope this helps

If it is the Spanish manufactured one a Taylor a72 a with some work from a locksmith ( not a hardware store or Home Depot) can be made to work.
