I think this is a good idea.

Mac’s and the entire Eklers line is well known across the hobby. Missing and incomplete orders, inflated shipping and extremely poor customer service.

As the OP discovered, anything that is out of stock is an instant back order. I’ve had thing show up a year later. I’ve emailed, called etc to decline back orders, just doesn’t matter, they show up anyway.

It’s a shame, Macs used to be a great company before Eklers bought them out.

Lucky for me I found out that Eckler's sucked during my Corvette days. When they bought Mac's I immediately saw the writing on the wall.

If we are going to name suppliers, VanSpelt need to be included.

Ditto.

G&G is wonderful. Kyle knows Fords, gets back to you immediately, and I my parts usually show up within two days.

I just want to add another supplier you can count on. Shoebox Central is a great supplier of 49-53 Ford and Mercury parts. Guys who know their stuff and deliver promptly.

Just got a nice big catalog from Macs that will got straight to the trash. Wonder what they spend mailing these out to people on the internet? Better spent on customer service.

Likely, ONE of the reasons their 'shipping' charges are so ridiculously exorbitant. DD

Same here! Eckler's screwed me for the last time about 1990. The only thing DIFFERENT about Mac's now-a-days is their address! DD

Man, talk about "Hen House Ways" to the MAX...yeah, that "chicken stuff"! I can't imagine why anyone would even consider spending a dime with that outfit. DD

You need to be talking with your credit card company about the fraudulent order you received, without full compensation.

Mac's shipping charges.

About as bad as one time I bought a Morgan Silver Dollar on E-Bay way back when I was fooling with coins. The seller quoted '$7.95 S&H'

When the coin arrived it was in a plain envelope with a 50 cent stamp (or whatever they were back then) and it was rolling back and forth in the envelope, loose. Geez. That guy automatically made my 'No Fly List'!

I wonder if these "corporate types" ever check what's going on with the hobbyist boards. It's probably a lot more valuable information that any "high-powered market research" they do, and a hell of a lot cheaper as well.

I do know that someone from Johnson Controls (Optima batteries) and EMS (patch panels) watch the H.A.M.B. and seem to have improved their operations because of it.

At our shop we use C&G as our primary old Ford supplier. If you need help, their staff actually knows what they are selling, and are up front about backorders, if necessary. Their order number is 800/266-0470. For tech info, 760/871-0445. We use Eckler's mostly for Corvette parts. I believe they moved their operation a while back, which may account for complaints.
