Re: Problem with the Carburetor Rod (10-1/2")
I use original rods, but wasn't aware the repro have aluminum parts. I've only seen steel ends on the repro rods I've worked with. Try Bert's for original parts, or A&L, Bert's, Bratton's, or Snyder's for better quality than Mac's in most cases.

Re: Problem with the Carburetor Rod (10-1/2")
One time I bought a pair of spark and throttle control rod levers from Bratton's and they were aluminum. These are the levers that are pinned to the bottom of the control rods. The first time I bought the same levers from Bratton's they were cast iron. That was about 12 years ago, so I don't know what's being sold now. I'll have to check any repro linkage I come across, but so far I've never seen aluminum end caps on them, and that would be a poor choice for a metal cap.

At our wrecking yard, we had a HUGE box of ALL kinds of rods, just bring a SAMPLE, or a STICK of the proper length. If one was too long, for a fee, I could shorten it with my handy TORCH! Bill W.
