Default where did this front motor mount originate from?

I pulled the engine from my 30 Tudor yesterday.
I found this odd motor mount, which explains why the crank would never match up with the crank nut.

Question what's it origin?

It's an old replacement front motor mount available from aftermarket companies and sold through such places as Western Auto. I have seen many of these in the past and not ONE allowed the pulley ratchet to line up with the crank hole. It's best to use the original design and hang this mount on the garage wall.

Back in the 1950's/early 1960's I had one. If I remember right I ordered it from J.C. Whitney and yes it sat too high as well. I removed it and have no idea what happened to it.

You can still buy those one piece bee hive springs from some suppliers,a nd they are junk. The original setup with two springs and an indexing plate for the springs to sit on are what works, and will line up the hand crank with the engine.

The yoke is possibly original ... just the rubber "thingies" and the funky spring are the problem.

These were mostly manufactured by Champ products made right here in St Louis . They made all kinds of aftermarket fix type products mostly for fords but others as well.

As Marshall said they do not allow the crank hole lineup and are best replaced back to a stock spring mount

Refer to the service bulletins for mount installation

I have one in my pickup that was taken off by somebody and given to me.He couldn't line the crank up either. In his case,it turned out he was putting that big biscuit in the middle on TOP of the crossmember,I have it in mine on the bottom side, and that flat boss on the yoke rides about a half inch up off the crossmember. That was in the early 80's,it's still on there and working. The mounting springs available then that were supposed to be like original looked like modern car brake shoe springs.
