Default Torque Tube rebuilding.

I am trying to rebuild a torque tube for a friends car, we are take out the B-W overdrive.

I have an old tube, we are trying to rebuild it.

how does one pull out the bearing race at the front of the tube ?
and the oil seal ?

I have several books and none really mention the torque tube in any detail... or at all.

any tips from removing the torque tube from the existing Differential ?
when we dump the B-W Overdrive ?

thank you
john.

I use an old drive shaft with damaged threads, put a socket on the splined end. Stand the drive shaft up with the socket on top. Slip the tube over the drive shaft and use it like a slide hammer. Removes the race and seal at the same time. Rod

There is an article that might be of help to you. Go to the web site of the Santa Anita A's of Arcadia, California at www.santaanitaas.org. On the home page put your cursor on "Technical Reference", my name will appear below, click on it. Scroll to the two articles on differential rebuilding rev. 2014 and 2015. There is a description of how to remove the race and the seal. There is also information about how to reinstall both.

You are also going to need a special tool to pull the BW stub shaft, along with the pinion assembly out of the banjo.

There is also a description in the differential articles describing how to get the pinion assembly off the stub shaft once it is removed from the banjo.
