What are these worth?
I have 5 of these connecting rods that my Dad and I found in a old auto parts warehouse in North Carolina.... probably 1972-74.
Can someone tell me what they are worth each? see pic Thanks Mike |

Re: What are these worth?
Most likely reworked sometime around WWII. What size are they marked? Sometimes they were farmed out and sold by the company that boxed it. They probably needed to meet the expected standards. and Federal Mogal was a solid supplier so I think they should sell for about what is needed to buy ones remanufactured today. They might be even better than some.

Re: What are these worth?
The only marking on the box is "25 D"
Does this mean anything? |

Re: What are these worth?
Model A or B. Measure the diameter on the inside that rides on the crank. A would be 1.625", B 1.875" Neither are worth a lot because new rods are being made. B rods $25 ea. at the most, A maybe half that?

Re: What are these worth?
I would think they have a value that is comparable to newly remanufactured rods. What is the cost to redo a rod properly? What is the cost to purchase a brand new made rod?

Re: What are these worth?
OK will get them checked and advised. Someone said $25 but in Brattons and Snyders they are listed for $97 - $99 each

Re: What are these worth?
I have one such Federal Mogul boxed rod labeled as 25-E and 0.030 undersize but it was way too loose on my 0.030 under crankshaft so not sure what it is. Maybe somebody here has an old Federal Mogul reference to what 25-D relates to?

Re: What are these worth?
Your best bet would be to mic the journal size to know what you have and put them for sale on ebay or here in the swap section. Put the price you want on them and see what happens. Your picture is inadequate to decide the condition. Show us some closeups of the workmanship. Other than seeing the box I can't tell if they are even new, re-built, or used and re-boxed.

Re: What are these worth?
The FM catalog doesn't give much info. 25-D is for Model A shows 1.50 ID
on big end. 25-E is for Model B. |
