Re: Blowing Starter Safety Fuse Help Please
Unfortunately, that generator had been modified and pieced together. The cutout mounting holes are positioned for a pulley end terminal post. Somebody drilled the brush end and moved the terminal post to that end. The cutout is mounted backwards because that is the only way it can reach the new terminal post. But that lets the battery discharge back through the generator. Here is a photo of two generator bodies each with the terminal post at opposite ends. The cutout mounting hole positions are clearly different.

Re: Blowing Starter Safety Fuse Help Please
Thank you for all the replies. I’m going to try and turn it around, plus insulate the cutout.
I’ll post when I get it sorted. |

Re: Blowing Starter Safety Fuse Help Please
If you turn it around, you'll need to rig a wire from the terminal post to the cutout input. The L bracket wont reach. Brattons, Snyders etc sell the correct terminal insulators. Also, look closely into the cutout terminal holes. There needs to be paper insulators between the cover and terminals inside the cutout. These prevent the cover from shorting on the cutout.
