62 Ford moonshiner
City:
Brunswick
State:
Ga.
Price:
14,900
This 62 Galaxie 2 dr. post is a really nice old survivor with all original paint, chrome, and interior that's been discreetly hotrodded. The car is black on black, originally from Floyd County, Va., home of Curtis Turner. I bought it from the second owner, a relative who had inherited the car when the original owner passed away. I've owned the car since around '96. When I bought it the car had a warmed up FE, heavy duty sway bar, and extra springs out back. While the history is unknown, being a black 2 door Ford set up with extra hauling and handling and hailing from Rocky Mt., Va, it's a pretty easy guess .
The body is mirror straight and rust free without so much as a parking lot ding. The paint, while chipped and scratched, still shines like new. The upholstery has no rips and is in very good condition. Like I said, it's a 50 year old survivor and in very nice condition. Paint and cosmetics could make this a show winner. The good stuff is in the drivetrain. It's a 416 cu. in. FE with factory CobraJet intake and stock valve covers. Under the intake is a 70's vintage truck block with the same webbing as the 428 SCJ block, second only to the cross bolt 427's for strength. Heads are painted Edelbrocks with tons of port work, new stands, valve train stabilizers (replaces spacer springs), Harland Sharp roller rockers, and more. The cam is a very stout Comp Cams roller. The headers are equal length SuperStockers. It's been decked, balanced, and built by FE specialist Dennis Hawkins at Precision Machine Service in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The motor has very few miles and dyno'd at over 470 hp. The trans is a manual shift C-6 hooked into the original column. The convertor is a 3800 stall but works well on the street. Rear is a posi with 3.89's that lays them down very evenly. The battery has been relocated to the trunk and the gas tank has a dropped rear pickup. Rear tires are street drag radials. This car looks stock except for the tach on the dash. But when you fire it up, every head swivels to see what it is. The car was built as a streetable sleeper and has very few miles. (The drivetrain has less than 600. The body has slightly over 100K.) It hooks well and drives great. I'm selling due to relocation and lack of space. All questions will be answered honestly and openly. Pat at 912-266-2566. |
