Default Voltage drop across my ignition switch

I'm dropping almost 2 volts - 6 volt system - across my ignition switch. I'm assuming oxidized contacts and have ordered a new ignition switch body from C&G.

I'm assuming the new switch body will cure my problem but I would like to hear other possible issues.

you can remove the back of the switch-inside you will find a bakelight piece with the contacts on it and a sort of swivel block of the same with a spring and a couple of contact points on a brass strip, look to see if these may have a hole worn in them also the backlight piece may be worn down--sand this flat with 1000 grit paper. several dealers sell them

You would probably be much better off with the original ignition switch and cleaning it up.

J Seery hit the nail on the head. You will be much better off to clean the old switch contacts, or by an NOS or the parts from Fred Wiilner at SO Side or Ray Helgers in RI, 401 635 4849. I know Ray for sure has plenty of originals ones and all the parts. You may be very disappointed in some new offshore product,

As long as you've ordered a replacement, you might as well try it -but whatever you do don't throw the original one away!!! That stuff was made real well and usually can be cleaned up, tinkered with, and made to work just fine again.

FWIW, I installed a contact plate from Mac's seven years ago and have had no problems with it.
