Default Educate me on distributor

If you have a hairline crack in top of distributor body and replace upper bearing/bushing what problem would crack cause? Wouldn't the bearing prevent the crack from opening any further and causing a wobble? And yes I have one with a crack.

When you ream the new bushing the crack will probably allow the bushing to turn and not ream.

A crack in the distributor where it supports a bushing could allow the bushing to wallow around as the shaft rotates.

I agree and I don't think there is room to put a collar on it. Maybe braze it and dress it to size but I can't imagine distributor bodies are scarce over there.
