Fenton headers in 47 coupe
Anyone have Fenton headers in a 46-48 Ford car? How well do they fit? Any steering box clearance issues? Any modifications needed?
Thanks, Steve |

My '41 has, set of Red's headers in it, I don't see any problems with clearences, I think the Fentons are even more compact.

Re: Fenton headers in 47 coupe
I wonder, just why do you want headers on your '47 Ford? Is it a race car? Do you intend to go out and bow the doors off of other cars that you encounter on the blvd?
It is a well documented fact of life that headers on a stock engine will not add anything to the performance of the vehicle. True they will give you WOW bragging rights, but that's about it...

Re: Fenton headers in 47 coupe
I had a set of Fenton's and did some grinding the get bolts on, I didn't like so I bought Reds and they bolt on better close to steering box. I have a 8rt in my 47 coupe.

Re: Fenton headers in 47 coupe
I have a set of Red's on my '47 and they bolted up without a hitch, as did the extensions, mufflers and tail pipes.
Yes, I knew from JWL's book that there's no impact on performance, but I wanted dual exhausts. And, for me, this was the easiest way to get there!!! |

Re: Fenton headers in 47 coupe
I'm putting Fentons on my '48 and they were right against the box when I test fit them. I'm hoping I can get more clearance with an additional washer on the motor mount.

Re: Fenton headers in 47 coupe
heres what i did for the dipstick problem. it had to have such a bend at the bottom that it couldnt be threaded in. so, i made one from brake line tubing. next problem is the big stick wont go around corners very good, so i got a skinny modern thing and brazed the v8 handle on top to fool you guys

Re: Fenton headers in 47 coupe
I had a similar dip stick issue when I put Fentons on my '39. Not to beat a dead horse, but when I put the Red's on my '47, the original dip stick works perfectly.
