54A Business Coupe
A friend has a 1928 Business Coupe that he may sell.
This is a rare car Downunder & made me think how common would they be in the home of the Model A, the US.? Are they a sought after model ? It is an 'older resto' & a driver, not a show car or 100% correct. What would a similar Coupe go for [ approx.] in the US today? Hopefully a 'barner with a Business Coupe can inform me. Thanks. |

I do not own one but we have restored 3. In my opinion on US price, low to mid teens in that condition. Sport & Business Coupes for some reason are a bodystyle that is either well liked, --or passed over. No middle ground it seems. |

I am restoring one. No, not common. Especially the really early ones.

Re: 54A Business Coupe
There were about 35000 made in each year of 28-29. Only the 29's had the oval "opera" windows in the quarters. With low production numbers and the tendency for the tops to rot and let the rains come in, there aren't many around. I think the 29's are more desirable and therefore command a higher price. When I was looking for a 28 I couldn't find one. Many have had landau irons added to make them look like sports coupes. Finally found my 29 about 10 miles from home. (see avatar).

Re: 54A Business Coupe
Thanks guys for all the replies. I thought they may be scarce in the US but am surprised that they are not really sought after & quite low selling prices.
Yes, the Oval window '29 are unique looking but Ford Canada stopped assembling them after 1928 so none of the '29's are known to have ever come to New Zealand when new. |
