Re: project 1934 deluxe coupe
Hello, the 1933 and 1934 also known as Model 40 were in my opinion the best looking most attractive Ford ever made.Good luck on your restoration. The restoration book put out for the 33 and 34 is excellent ,I have the book and hopefully a car in near future. These cars were in demand with the criminal element of that era.Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Bonnie and Clyde drove them.

Re: project 1934 deluxe coupe
Dillinger only drove Fords when they were the only thing available to steal; he liked Terraplanes better.

The fords v8's were the most commonly available to steal. For his personal preference he actually bought a terraplane, that he liked more than the fords. But after one getaway, that was shot up gone and reverted back to stealing v8"s or even 6 cylinders for his bank jobs. Several of the other prominent Dillinger gang members preferred the Buicks and Packards, but they were not readily available to steal because few people could aford them during the depression. |

Re: project 1934 deluxe coupe
The so-called "Flying Squads" of the cities where much of the "action" took place like Chicago and Detroit were equipped with fleets on Model L Lincoln phaetons and touring cars (not Model As) which could run circles around any Buick, Terraplane, or Ford V8 of the period. Look it up.

Agreed, but Ialways thought the 52's were a very attractive automobile compared to other makes of that year. |
