Default 47 pickup transmission

Anyone ever put a 47 pickup trans in a 39 chassis? Looks like I need to fabricate the rear mount somehow.

Is it a still a top loader not three on the tree? If yes it should be the same box but was an open drive and would need the earlier rear mount as well as a different main shaft. Others will add their wisdom shortly and probably more specific questions.

Yes, it's a toploader. I will be running an 8ba and an 8" Ford rear in my 39 pickup. I will eventually go with an S10 set up but thought this would be a quick fix in meantime but the mounting flange bolt holes are not set as wide as original trans so I need to modify the frame mount some how.

Unless you use parallel leaf springs w/the 8" you'll need radius bars....lots of kits out there for this....for fore and aft location . A panard bar for side to side is good to have as well. The frames on my '32 and '41 were just too nice to cut or I'd have gone with a T-5
in both.

I'm using a CE parallel spring kit for the 8". The T5 option is looking better and better rather than trying to make the 47 trans fit.
