Default Kudos for Bill Monzo (34FordFabricator)

I've had more than my fair share of '33 and '34 phaetons and roadsters and as a result have a more than passing familiarity with their unique components. In the process of bringing a basket case '33 phaeton back to life I needed some hard-to-find items such as the four-piece header bow weather strip retainer and windshield wiper shaft weather seal and retainer and took a chance with Bill's reproductions. Except for the rubber weather seal, these are well outside any normal definition of DIY. What I received was perfection in fit, finish, and function. Beside their original counterparts, there's no difference, not even a slightly different spacing of the mounting holes (a common problem with many reproduction parts).

His reproductions are not cheap, nor could they be given that the only way they can be created is with hard tooling. You cannot make precise compound curves with a vise, a hammer, and a pair of pliers. The old adage applies: you get what you pay for.

Bill posts his offerings in the swap meet section from time to time, but he can be reached directly at [email protected].

P.S. I get no discounts for sharing my opinion.

Finally someone who realizes that just a bit off and the buyer won't mind. If you are going to all the trouble to spend large sums of money to reproduce an item of any kind, why take a short cut thinking no one will notice the difference? Get it right or don't bother ! Just a picky old man here.

I have the weather strip retainer set for my 33 phaeton and agree with all said. Mine is uninstalled as it was purchased by the previous owner. My car still has the original top on it and I'm not touching it until it completely goes away. Right now the top is ROCK hard.
Pictures in a public album.
