Default Is there a good repair???

Is there a good or great repair to that little square hole on the door handle of a 1934 Ford Coupe?
Got mine back in the newly painted door and now it is real evident that the driver's side outside door handle sags.... real bad. Just sort of flops actually...
Will hammering small wedges into the hole be a fix or a flop?

Is there a source for brand new latches? Mine is the style for the front of the door not in the middle.

Thank you.

Hi there, Hammering small wedges into the hole !!! That's a joke, right ? You need to remove inside handles, door trim and remove the lock assembly and inspect to see if handle return spring is broken or some other mechanical problem. Macs and others have these springs new. See page 195 of their current catalog for pictures of all these springs. Do it right the first time around. Good luck. Regards, Kevin.

Have fixed several of these 'sagging/droopy' door handles in the past by holding the area at which the handle shaft intersects with the latch in a vise and then twisting the square as required with a large adjustable wrench.
This is assuming that all other possibilities have been addressed.
