Cold and snowy here also, I just hope we don't get 4 inches of snow like we did in May a few years ago, I'd like winter to be gone by mid-March. If I only had a heated garage to work on my car its in an unheated storage unit now.

Supposedly, Mark Twain once asserted “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”....This is a profound statement!....

Colder than normal even in Sask. Although its supposed to jump above normal tomorrow. Not enough snow to be a problem. In fact we had more snow in November than we have now. -2F in my shop this morning so I fired up the furnace and worked on the 53 for a while. Indoor temp was up to +10F pretty soon and felt comfortable for working. I'm waiting for a nice scenic day with hoarfrost and blue sky to take the 52 out for a few pictures. Like this one from a couple of years ago.

Seriously? You guys don't get hoar frost there? It makes for the most awesome winter scenery. Tree branches and everything get coated in a thick white layer of frost that makes a great backdrop for photographing old rusty cars. Pics are usually best early in the day before any melting or wind blows it away. I was a bit late in the day for this one but you can see a little on the trees.

Daddy used alcohol in the winter and drained what was left and stored it in the summer time.
We are expecting a dusting here tonight and one more day of real cold tomorrow. Smokey hasn't been started in over a month as I have blankets over the garage door to help keep my 3 real cars warm.

Since I had the furnace running and the shop "warmed up" I did a little more rust assessment on the 53. Got the seat and front floor mats out and its pretty bad but no worse than the 52 was. I can patch it up good enough to drive if I ever get the engine to running condition.

Hardly any snow around here. Snow all around us, but mountains keep blocking us from it. 40 degrees last couple of days. Every time it snows here so far this season we have been getting warm weather behind it up from the south Pacific & rain. I probably have 4" in my yard. We have had about 3' so far but you couldn't tell it. We are about 2' behind average for this year. Chest deep up at my cabin though. Bill

I’ve never heard it called that. We’ve had mornings when the sun started to get high that it sounds like it’s raining as it starts to melt. I don’t ever remember it being called “ hoarfrost”. We just called it....well.....Frost!....it does make for pretty pictures......Mark

Winters is always better than what I remember as a kid! I remember when a neighbor had a '35 chev and he said he really liked the lighted heater switch under the dash because when he saw that light burning, he knew the heat was on and it made him feel so much warmer.

Meanwhile us kiwis swelter in the heat and drought. 90F. In the shade and 127F. In the sun.
Try spending a day or two in a iron unlined shed welding a chassis up.

Wow Ralph that floor is worse the the shoebox Ford I use to own back in 1964, I remember cutting a piece of plywood to put under my rubber mat, I sealed it up with some kind of tar my Dad had, also got some rockers from Montgomery Wards to go over the originals, held on by sheet metal screws, those were the days.

That sounds like a first class repair. My older brother bought a nice lookin' '54 Ford from a used car lot on Lake Street in Minneapolis (anybody from Minnesota can relate to that). They had fixed the rocker panels by jamming a bunch of steel wool into the rust holes and skimming it with bondo. That car went from looking terrific to being a rustbucket in less than two weeks!

I figure my patches should last for years in our dry climate. Car stored indoors and never driven in the rain.

We finally got some snow last week.
Rumour says it will be above freezing in the end of the week again...
