Default 29 or 30 Tudor?

Hey guys, went to look at a 29 Tudor today that was restored by a local Model A restorer 20 yrs ago. The owner who is in his 80's says it's a 29 but I found 19in wheels on it and the horn rod on the steering wheel is from a 30/31. What else can I check? What's the difference in radiator size from a 29 and 30?

Belt rail and cowl band. Definately a 30 or 31, not a 28 or 29. Rod

Gas tank and cowl are the stand out differences between 28/29 and 30/31 on assembled cars.

It was interesting when I had my '29 coupe & my '30 coupe, side beside, for 3 years!! They're like completely different ANIMALS!! The '30 looked like a FULL SIZE & the '29 looked like a MID-SIZE version. "ALMOST" NO BODY PARTS WILL INTERCHANGE!!!
'29's were the choice for Dry Lakes runs, as they have LESS frontal area & a little better AERODYNAMICS!

The front fenders on a 30/31 are more sloped and less rounded than a 29. If you saw both of them side by side, quite a bit different in many ways....

Looking at it on my phone, the pic was too dark to see the gas tank seam. So the belt rail shape and cowl band were very obvious. Rod

Could have been purchased in late 1929 and registered as such.

Claude said that on a LONG, STRAIGHT, downhill @ HIGH SPEED, the '30-'31 front fenders were almost like WINGS & he could actually feel the front end LIFT a little---He concluded that he would NOT race it in NASCAR!!

Bill, but they let you have an air-dam under the front now! That little splitter keeps those noses down at 200+.
