Intake / Exhaust Gasket(s)
I'd like to use the exhaust ring inserts but I guess if one does, they cannot use the copper Gaskets, Part # A-9433-CS, or are my brand new gasket's made wrong?
Even without the ring's the gasket fit is pretty bad as they seem to be to long in length. Do I modify these by removing .125" from each slot making it 6 rings with ear's to dangle on the studs, or just make 6 rings and force them on the ring inserts? The saga continues, ... Regards Bill |

I'd return them and try something else. The fit there is crucial and I wouldn't mess around with these. Just my opinion. Others might have better suggestions.

In the photo it looks like the rings are fitting. You can move the gasket some and finesse things together. Might be the manifold has some sag. If that doesn't work I would use a ring in the hole nearest the outlet.

Re: Intake / Exhaust Gasket(s)
Folks have different likes for gasket material. On new repro intake and exhaust manifolds, (which fit very well ), we had good success with the metal / composition backed one piece gasket and gland rings. The rings may need to be filed or sanded down to allow the gasket to seat properly at about 30'# and should be snug fit in the recesses. We just helped install gland rings (and copper manifold gasket )on a '36 Buick Straight 8 similar to an A set up in the same manner with no leaks. As J Bill states, the gasket selected should allow the rings to seat without undue gasket deformation.

Re: Intake / Exhaust Gasket(s)
You can shorten the distance between the holes by just folding a slight wave into the gasket at the narrow part.

Re: Intake / Exhaust Gasket(s)
The Exhaust Manifolds is brand new so we can say there is no sagging but with the parts we get, ... it's a 50/50 chance so I measured it, ... it's dead on!
It's the gasket. the manifolds bolt up just fine with the gland rings installed, it's only when you inject the Gasket into the equation, things get wonky Regards Bill . |

Re: Intake / Exhaust Gasket(s)
Just do as Tom said, or just install on the gland rings and the gasket will flatten out when you draw the nuts down.

The engine had exhaust leaks coming from everywhere one could possibly come from to the point the car had to be driven with the windows rolled down if I still wanted to keep my last 3 brain cells. The Original gasket that was on there was the one piece steel gasket and it to was folded, bent and mutilated in that same way described by Tom to get it to fit. I want to prevent a repeat performance, so the gaskets will go on in the cleanest, flattest way possible. Sure I could send it back, but the odd's are extremely high that I'll just get the twin sister to these gasket's so why bother. Besides, it would totally screw up my modifying just about every new part so they fit record. Regards Bill |

Re: Intake / Exhaust Gasket(s)
I like to travel, so if you are a betting man I would wager my transportation costs to come and button your exhaust up with no leaks with that gasket, if your manifolds are not the problem. If the gasket isn't being returned go ahead and try it as explained, it's only 4 nuts to deal with.
