Default Commonsense Fasteners – Side Curtains

Would like info from folks with ‘original’ (i.e. unrestored) open ’28 vehicles re: commonsense fasteners (side curtain twist fasteners) mounted to the perimeter rails of the top irons … do your fasteners show evidence of having been installed and then painted black along with the top irons or did they remain shiny nickel plate (no paint)?

I have a '28 Roadster and the twist fasteners (two each side up front facing inside) are plated and are probably screwed into the irons which are wrapped with top fabric. All the other plunger and socket fasteners are also plated. Harold Parizek

It's important to note the particular model. An Open Cab is entirely different than a Roadster. Additionally, I don't believe there was any change in the method of the top construction of the Open Cab over the four years so the question would not be limited to 1928.
