Default Swing out quarter windows

Ok, the swing out quarter windows on my 39 Merc are "milky", need to replace. Like most windows of this type, they are surrounded by a chrome C channel frame. Obviously this frame comes off somehow..... the only break in continuity of the surround frame looks to be maybe clips by the pivot points top and bottom. Can anyone confirm or comment on removing the glass from such a frame?????

Thanks guys and Merry Christmas!

The complete 1/4 window surround will need to come out.
You will then see how the frame is attached.
It's a pretty simple procedure.
You will then be able to take the 1/4 glass to a shop and have it replaced.
E-mail me and I will send you a couple of pictures.

try not to lose/damage any parts at the pivot points as no one repops them. On my '41 I needed a screw but odd thread. Found out they were not 8-32 but 8-36

I know it's a strech, but , if you can find an old timer who worked it the auto glass business, some times they will remember the " tricks " to a certain glass sequence. Often there is just enough continuity say, between a 36 ford car, and a 54 dodge pickup windshield ,and one sequence will lead the glass guy to the next challenge. That's what did when I redid mine.

You may have to destroy the old glass to get it out. You will need the correct tape to reset the new glass. Setting tape comes in a variety of thicknesses to get the fit tight. Some folks use a polyurethan sealant instead but I prefer the OEM look of setting tape. If the frame has corrosion then it has to be repaired or replaced prior to installation of the new glass.

Thanks for the responses guys! I did know that I needed to remove the window assembly from the car, and as mentioned, things will likely be more apparent once removed.
