Default car coral

Has anyone bought a car at Hershey? What is the best way pay for a car if I find one? I don't like to carry a lot of cash. If anyone has experience, I would like to know how you did it. Thanks, Roger

We bought our '42 Tudor at Hershey three years ago. $500 cash deposit, then arranging for the rest of the funding over the next couple days. Seller was from Florida, but agreed to delay returning the car on the chance of a sale and not having to ship it back down. Sellers tend to drop the price on things the last couple days for the same reason, except the real high-end stuff.

Buyers are waiting with cash as folks roll in ....

Then there is trading done to try and leave with something better
with what you brought ...

Best buys:

Set up day

Last hours of the last day

CASH is what you need to have on hand

You know, I have always wondered exactly how much "cash" was on the Hershey grounds on any given day. I know that when I go to Hershey just to purchase parts (not a car), I will usually have in excess of $10k with me, ...and that ain't even a drop in the bucket compared to what most folks will have with them!

I mean, if you just want to play a silly money game, lets just suppose there were 25,000 people there who each had $5,000.00 cash with them. That works out to be about 125 MILLION dollars by my calculations!! I do not know the exact amount of attendees but there has always been a rough estimate of 250,000+ attendees for the past decade or so. Not everyone will carry $5k with them, but there are many that will easily have that amount or more. You do the math and tell me how much cash money YOU think is on the premises.

Thanks everyone, all good information. Think I will take a few thousand and work out the rest if I find something. Hopefully the seller is local. Roger

Brent, that's just your money for the FIRST day. That is "chump change" to you! He He!
On a serious note, with these phones, computers and Ipads, you can often transfer money to someone right on the spot. And, they can confirm receipt. Paypal can also be used at point of sale.
However if either party is technically challenged, that's the way it goes!!

Yes, technology has changed things. We did a deal at a military vehicle show a couple weeks ago all through Paypal on site in real time. Amazing.

My only thoughts with the PayPal deal is;

.....1st, Me as a Seller would not be too happy with a 2½% surcharge placed on my $10,000 vehicle sales. I would think there are many others who would share the same sentiments.

.....2nd, not everyone wants to have their money deposited into an account where 'Big Brother' can ask questions and want "commissions" next April 15th!

Brent I like cash too, but the way the drug enforcement people are working around Nashville I am having second thoughts. There are reports of these jokers confiscating cash from legitimate business folks and making them prove it is theirs. The process can take several months. I hope they catch all the dope dealers, but they are more interested in cash for their own operations.

Yep surcharges and commissions are awful. But you can get in a tight!
I can do pretty quick ach on my iPad with very little charge.
The worst thing to me is the fee auctions charge the seller and then turn around and charge the 10% buyers fee. That would make me more sick than paying to transfer the money.
As to taxes.... Caesar gets his!

You can walk to the Susquehanna Bank branch from the Chocolate field, open an account there if the brown paper bag makes you nervous. Bob

If I was going to transfer a large amount of cash. I would get a letter of explanation on an official letterhead from my banking establishment. To show who ever might need to know why I am carrying the money. And if it was a really big bundle. I would also get a letter from the local Sheriffs department too. The letters would have all neccessary phone numbers
to call too, just in case. Not that I have or every will carry that much
lettuce. The letters might be some cheap insurance to my way of thinking.

Lettuce is the current slang for pot/weed. What are you carrying? How'd you get that money?

Somebody must know the real answer to this.
