Default 35 Ford Exterior Door Handle

I only have three original exterior door handles for my 35 convertible sedan and
am trying to find one more original. Does anyone have one I can buy? There isn't
a correct reproduction being made. My originals are die cast with stainless escut-
cheons. Can send pictures of one of my handles to your email.

Thanks,

Peter

The 3W and the Cabriolet also used die cast handles, but the Conv. Sedan handle is unique. The 3W and Cabriolet handle shaft has a recess in the square operator shaft. I bought 48-702350 from Mac's I was surprised to see a die cast handle with a 3-3/4" long, 5/16" square, shaft without any recess. The mounting plate is also die cast not stainless. I do not have an original C.S. handle to see if this reproduction handle would replace with slight modification. It does appear with modification it could replace the 3W & Cabriolet handle. If your looking for an original with patina suggest you advertise in the wanted section here and at the V8 Club form.

Here's an image of the 35 conv outside door handles. Do you need front or rear??

The 38 hardware book indicates the front can be used on the rear if the rear handle was not available. It appears to be a simple drill and tap for the 10-32 screw, if necessary.

Once again I need to be educated about another 35 item. I did see the mention and picture of a front and rear convertible sedan exterior handle in my copy of the 38 hardware book
but need to know how to properly understand which is which as I don't know .

Judging from Don's illustration from the hardware catalog the inside door handles in the rear compartment attach directly to the ends of the shanks of the outside door handles whereas in the front compartment the inside handle is more or less centered in the door and connected via linkage to the door latch to which the outside handle shank passes into.

Here is the relationship of the interior escutcheon to the door latch mecanism. Typical for front or rear door.
