Default '37 Ford head light switch

I need to know where the wires on the head light switch go. The harness that is on the switch are all the same color. Perhaps the previous owner used an after market harness - thus the reason for no color code.

A photo wound help a great deal !

Thanks Rayzor

Just Google " 1937 Ford V8 wiring diagram "
All should be revealed.

When I did the headlights and parking lights on my '51, the wires were all so faded that they had lost their color and all looked the same. I don't imagine that the 14 extra years on your car helped much either. Like "swoopNZ" said, use the wiring diagram to trace them down; that's what I did. A test light helps a lot.

SwoopNZ. Thanks for the info about Googling 1937 wiring. However, it was no help. I have the schematic for the head light, tail, dash lights. The schematic only shows the switch as a symbol - and not the termination location on the switch - this is what I need - which wire goes to which contact.

This is a 34 Ford diagram, but it shows the switch a little better. The wiring may be a little different, but should give you the idea. You will need to check each of the terminals with a meter and figure out which connection is which. Should be a fairly easy task. The one marked BAT is where the power comes into the switch and that same group provides power to the brake switch. If you can not get the attachment to enlarge, PM me and I can send you an enlargement of just the switch.

'37 instrument light switch is mounted in the dash.
A simple on-off switch.
37 38 and 39 headlights and parking are controlled by the horn button.
One of these days I'll get around to working some more on my '37 coupes and have the same problems.

That's not correct for the cars built in this country. Early Ford V-8's up to '39 had headlight switch at end of steering box and was controlled by a horn/light switch rod at the center of the steering wheel.

My 37 has the switch on the horn button. No hole in dash for another switch.

Sorry JM you are right.
I was having a senior moment.
I will correct that posting.
That switch on the dash is for the instrument lights - sometimes hard to come by.
Both my 37 coupes are from the USA.
