1940 Ford Coupe
Picked me up a 40 Coupe yesterday. It's a barn find. hasn't ran is along time, no brakes, wiring harness is shot, floors are pretty bad, needs patch panels on the doors, rear door jams are loose on the bottom.
I love it. the rest of the body is great, fenders are good, grill good, all windows are there, drip rails are good, dash is good, original running gear, has a 100 hp Mercury flathead in it.' I'll post some pics when I get them uploaded to the computer. |

Re: 1940 Ford Coupe
Congratulations! Nice find. It's amazing how many of those coupes are still stored away from the past. Thank goodness for repro parts availability. If the ashtrays push in and go up it's an early production. If they pull out from the top it's a later production.

Re: 1940 Ford Coupe
clipps221,
Let me show you why they are so rare, many of them were lost in racing accidents in the 50's and 60's. The photo is of one I put through the retaining wall at Motor City Speedway (Detroit) in the early 50's. I was 18 at the time. The engine was removed along with the roll bars and installed in another 1940 coupe a few days later, we ran at the same track a week later with better results. The wrecking yards were full of them in Detroit and Windsor Ontario Canada for $75.00 to$100.00. Mark Last edited by Mark Slight; 12-21-2013 at 10:57 AM. |

Re: 1940 Ford Coupe
Good find.
Now the fun can begin. This is the stage of ownership that is the most fun. In what part of the country do you and the coupe live? Welcome to the Ford barn. Bruce Works good Lasts long time |
