Default 1941 Cowl Mirrors

I need a pair of good Cowl Mounted Side Mirrors for a 1941 Convertible or Station Wagon. I understand that they take a mirror with a longer base than the other models. Please get back if you can help me out. THANKS, Don

Can't help you with the '41 cowl mounted mirrors but that sure is a nice looking Brewster.

THANKS I was trying to ad an Avatar, didn't know what I was doing but guess I will leave it there. As you can see, I did figure out the Avatar. The Brewster is a 5 Passenger Enclosed Drive Sedan, one of only two that were built. Barn find (my barn). I bought it in 1963. Glad I never took it apart and started to restore it. Don

I had cowl mounted mirrors on my '41. Really couldn't see much and they vibrated so muck they were pretty well useless. Went to door mounted peeps. Not stock but at least I can see.

I've a set I removed from my 46 delivery. As fordor said, you can't even see the right mirror. They look great! Half price of new.

I had mirrors on my old 41 tudor sedan, wish I had them for my convertible...but have never heard they are different from regular closed cars. They did not work too great as others have said, but are a beautiful assessory seldom seen on 41's

Don, I drove myself "nuts" over a rear-view mirror for my right hand drive 32 Cabriolet. The after market hinge mounted versions resembled something that fell out of a Christmas cracker. The solution was many hours with a hacksaw, file and black paint.

Got there in the end however.

I agree with fordor41. I went with peep mirrors on my '41 and they work great. I found a convex mirror at an auto parts store that was the same diameter as the regular mirror. I glued it to the regular right side mirror and it works well . Unfortunately it does not have the warning "Objects in mirror are larger than they appear." As for appearance I have never had anyone comment on them.

I used them to fill a space where the chrome bits were that are missing from my car. Left one is useless right one can be used. I've got a peep also.

Don't waste your time with the passenger side. It is physically impossible to see it from the drivers position. The one I have on my '46 "woodie" is from Bob Drake and he only offers one style. I am not aware of a mirror with a longer base for wagons or convertibles.

I am at work now, but I found the mirrors that fit my car. I can send the information. This is my car, unrestored with 46k. We have to talk. Craig

I knew these are not very effective. Guess I will just try to turn my head harder and not back into things. THANKS
