Front seats 1946-48
Can anyone shed some light or have an opinion as to seats for the 46-48 fords. Do you think the two door sedan seats (with moveable backs) are interchangeable/same as convertible seats except of course for covering. OR if the solid four door seats would be the same as the station wagon seats.
thanks frederic |

Re: Front seats 1946-48
41-8 Car, 4 door sedan front seats are not the same size as those used for the woodies The car bodies are bowed at the centre post and are wider at the top from one side of the centre post to the other. The woodie distance is narrower at the centre posts at the top.The rest of the seat is all the same, should you wish to use a sedan seat in a woodie you would have to narrow the seat back rest top rail and spring runners about 11/2 inches. The coil springs can be squeezed closer together to make up the closer distance The cushion bottom section is the same. I can give you closer measurements should you wish them. Johnny.

Re: Front seats 1946-48
Hi Johnny, I have a '41 Woodie and I used a front seat from a USA sedan in it, it fits perfectly as is....no alterations required at all. Same with the split bench from a Tudor or Club Coupe , tried it in but didn't like the look ( and no real point to it in a Woodie anyway)....regards, Colin.

Re: Front seats 1946-48
I have new middle and rear woodie seats should you need them ,one set left. As I explained in the prevous post the car seat fit fine but was very close to each centre post at the top .as I remenber the top corners of the seat would have been hitting the post when the seat was all the way back. But COL says his fit fine so try yours and see. Johnny.
