What modern points do you use?
Modern points are anywhere from $4.25 - $8.50 and the vendors, which ones do you get at the local parts store.
Can't see paying the high prices and the shipping. And yes, I am switching over to modern points in my 6V- system.

I was disappointed here in the Pacific NW. Ford dealers no longer stock points anymore. The parts guy told me to go online,Summit, Jegs etc. $20 bucks good top of the line.

I use acell points and condenser in my Tudor. I have a set I have used for 8 years and only gapped them a couple of times. They cost a lot but the condenser and points are high quality and last and keep their gap.
The felt piece goes on the arm and is oiled. John

And everyone, the reason I'm giving modern points a shot is it's such a hassle changing originals, it's worth a try...can't hurt, and if I don't like'em I can always go back

FWIW, I run modern points from various suppliers. Some look to be fairly doubtfull quality, others good but I won't touch any of them if the contact is not hollow. (vented).

I use modern points from NAPA in one car, and old style in the other two. They all work just fine.

UPDATE:
Well I don't like them already. The top plate is not made correctly, making it extremely difficult to adjust the points, the idea is sound, but the execution sucks. Think I will go bavk to stock and make my own modern point set up, I will use qualiy American parts and fix that useless top plate.

Foreign parts may have caused failures . One of the other problems was difficulties with accurate adjustment . I don't think that points adjustment could be more simple or as accurate as the original set up . I figured why not make it easy on myself and keep my model A's as original and dependable as possible . No harm meant , just my view .

Only once 30 years ago. Only lasted 2 days and that's when the points were good ones. One might say the best motto is : modify only if known to be an improvement.

My nice Little Green Roadster had mounted the modern plate and points when buying.
I wanted to equip to original and ordered the early base plate and the original replica contact points and the capacitor. Remodeled, and as I wanted to set the contact points with the maggot screw, I saw that the angle of the points was not parallel, they only touched on one outer edge. That's bad and that's why I had to put back on the modern base plate angrily. Was 'Made in USA'.

My Phaeton had original points in it when I bought it but the block, which was made from crappy muckmetal had begun to disintegrate. The car didn't run properly and the second thing I did to get it going was to put modern points in it. They are still there 9 years and 60,000 miles later.
BTW, The first thing I did was connect the spark advance rods correctly at the bell crank on the inlet manifold.

Bob, my Napa on central in Kent carries the echlin cs30 original style in stock. I thought they’re a well built set. They cost about the same though.

Hi Chuck... I run modern. I bought a bought the "Best" that NAPA sells and they are just o.k.. I don't mind steppin up as long as the quality is there.

If you are using reproduction stock style points, used the stationary points block from Bratton's. It is machined and made to be used with the repro points. Much better than the cast? block from other vendors. https://www.brattons.com/machined-di...int-block.html
