Throwout bearing replacement
My new release bearing is just a loose bearing, any tips on removing the original from the collar and installing the new one?

Re: Throwout bearing replacement
Just to clarify. What year car, engine and transmission are you dealing with? If you're referring to the clutch release throw out bearing,
you need to replace the entire bearing as a unit. That requires pulling the transmission . |

Re: Throwout bearing replacement
It's a 1940 Ford. Obviously it's all apart. What I have is just the bearing, how do I remove the old bearing from the collar? I see speedway sells them as a unit but why spend more money when I already have the parts.

Re: Throwout bearing replacement
Plus, it's easier to source a US-made bearing vs. having to use the assembled offshore assembly that Speedway sells.

Re: Throwout bearing replacement
I learned something new. Thanks. However, do your best to search and buy an American made bearing.

I do remember that it didn't take much force at all to move it. |
