I agree completely !!! A lighter flywheel makes a big difference in making clash free shifts .

Hawaii, What a neat place that would be to drive a Model A. I'm laid up with a sore throat and snotty nose in cold and wet North Carolina.

Aloha,
Yes the nice thing is you can drive your car all year long (not today, torrential rain). But the traffic is a nightmare, I usually try to drive early morning as soon al the sun comes up. Too may people to small of an island. Would love to drive the open road on the mainland.

So to sum it up. No need to use thicker oil. Easy does it, and make sure the idle is as low as possible.
Mahalo to all.

I've also found that too slow idle will have a gearing down effect when you let off the accelerator to change gears. This can also have a negitive effect. A person needs to experiment and find what works for them. Again being as the model A transmission has no synchronizers. For smooth clash free shifts , gear and wheel speeds must synchronize or the gears are gonna scrape. Many things can effect this. Some can pick the technique up easily some never get that good at it . Practice can make perfect
