Default MAC'S and A & L Parts Specialities

The recent post/thread about "Mac's Closing" - whether closing or just "moving" - and with the many responding posts with both positive and negative replies, makes me even more appreciative of people like Al Lapore (A&L Parts) and now his son Al Lapore, Jr.

Producing and selling quality parts for the Ford Model A since 1963, this long-time family business in Canton, CT. has always been a stellar contributor to the Model A hobby. In a counter-point to today's fast-moving internet world, this small family business continues to operate 'the old fashioned way'.

I had the occasion this morning to call them up (phone #(860) 693-2620) to order a new catalog. Their 'catalog' is actually more like a 16 page 'flyer' than the usual 'comprehensive', 'all inclusive' thick catalogs that we normally see from the major suppliers. However, many of the suppliers quality products come from A & L .

So for those of you who are not familiar with A & L Parts Specialties, and are sad to see MAC'S closing (or moving), an old adage may be comforting:
"When one door closes, another door opens".

Hang on to their phone number (860) 693-2620, as they do NOT have a website, email address, or other fancy internet (facebook, twitter, etc.) contacts - as far as I know.

Be careful of Al Lapore - he is quite a fun and interactive guy who has great 'phone personality' and is a joy to talk with - which may cause you to have such a good time that you forget what is was that you called for !

Even their flyer is quality...the drawings of parts are a joy to behold, like finding new pages in the Service Bulletins.

Allan and Bob are extremely knowledgable and will do whatever it takes to please you and in my opinion more than any and I mean any other vendor. Wayne

I'm a lucky guy I live about 45 minutes from A&L. And I always give them a 10+ when ever this gets spoken about here and if they have to ship anything they only charge flat rate. Good honest people to work with

Does A&L have a new catalog? The one I have is 2013 vintage. I speak with Allan or Bob on a regular basis. They are currently make more parts, one of which is a 2 hole male dovetail used on many cars. The cheesy Vintique dovetails are made of a way too light gauge of metal and the countersunk holes are made wrong, where the oval head screws wont seat correctly. I agree with everything Doug wrote - they are a class act.

I just put one of A&L's new 12v Spartan Horns on my pickup. That is a real beauty, and it sounds good as well.

They sent me one of their "catalogs" with the horn. I may have to look at their Dovetails to see if they have one that will fit my pickup.
