Strange Email
Our local club president received the following email message:
Hi I do have a Tudor 1930 and just moved to the area. I would like to join the club, how do I do that ? I need someone there can change my tires and do some small repairs on the car, who can do that ? Jørgen Nielsen The only place the email address for our president can be found is on MAFCAs website. There was no subject and the return address was [email protected]. Which is in Denmark. Anyone else get this message? Bob |

reminds me of a national tour here 2 yrs ago. Dude drives all the way here from CA on bald tires. Has new tires in the back seat. Shows up at the repair tent expecting our people to change them out for him. So many ppl have such an incredible sense of entitlement

Re: Strange Email
Sounds like step 1 of a multi-step scam plan.
First they get name and contact information for a "helpful person" in your area. Helpful people are so helpful that they don't think that they are being setup. They contact this helpful person and send them a bogus cashier's check for work to be done on the car. The check is for too much money, or they guy cancels the work for some reason and asks that the money or the excess money be wired back to him. The wire transfer back to the bad guy goes through at the speed of light. The bogus check that you deposited takes 2 or 3 weeks to come back to your bank as bad, fake, etc. and the money is taken back out of your account by your bank. But you already sent the refund to the guy, and you are out the money. This is related to the "I want to buy your car, I will send you a check" scam.

Re: Strange Email
Vince,
They took the email addresses off of the MAFCA site. The email address that they used for my club is ONLY listed on that site. Bob |

Re: Strange Email
I got it too, here in SoCal. I deleted it right away as it smelled bad! Unfortunately someone will respond. I had a guy respond several years ago to an ad I had placed for an OHV head. It took me awhile to realize it was a scam, after I got funny answers to my questions.
