Default header drawing needed

Does anyone have a drawing ,with dimensions of the front header on a 1928 Briggs?

I have a hunk of ash, the time to spare and no money to buy one.

Also would be interested in drawing of the front corners showing how the 2 side pieces attach to the header.

Thanks

Scot

I have made a lot of my own wood, but the header is a very complex part. The one I installed into my Briggs T.S. is made up of more than one piece. I would definitely NOT try to make one without a reliable pattern of some kind. If you belong to club, see if someone has one that might allow you to borrow it. Or if there's any restoration shops nearby, ask them. Good Luck with it!

Terry, I've spent a lot of time googling images and you answered one question that I had. It is more than one piece. It looks like a plain square structure forming the windshield opening with an top/nose piece screwed to the top of it.
I haven't found a good photo of the joint at the corner though. (I'm guessing a lap joint that is screwed together.)

The top piece looks interesting. It seems to be straight on the verticals faces, has the curve of the roof on the top plus a nose that sticks out with an 45 degree lower edge. And it looks to taper on the ends to make a rounded corner. I get a general idea of how it comes together by the metal that covers it.

I'll keep looking.

Mike - The townsedan club seems to be aimed at everything but the 60-A,B,C Briggs, or am I reading the FB page incorrectly?

The Briggs 28-29 bodied cars all 'should' have the same header that is why I suggested the TS club.

Hi Scot,

Where are you located? I have one you can measure and see how it is made if you are close by. I am in central Oregon.

Scot, I took a few pics of my "Classic Wood" header. If you write me I'll be able to send you the pics in return. Sorry, I can't post them (I'm no good with computers) One important thing, The front of the header is Not straight or flat, It is angled and it gets covered with metal shield that is also angled. Sorry I didn't measure the angle (It's too fricken cold out in the garage to stay out there long) But I can get it to you. Off the top of my head, it's about 60Deg. off. It's called a "Windshield Header panel"on pg 149, PN 36450, of Bratton's 2013 catalog, It fits under the visor. Good Luck!

How much difference is there in the header between the Town Sedan and the 60-B Leatherback? Rod

The sixty series Briggs sedans have a significantly different header than the Briggs Town and Standard sedans of 1929. Someone out there must have a drawing of the 60A '28 Briggs.

The Town Sedan club does not include the sixty series "blindback' sedans.

Ok, just checking as I might have been able to help him. I think there may be enough left from one of the 60-B's we parted out afew years ago. Rod
