Default main bearing caps

I'm in need of a standard rear bearing cap. When I was a young man, you used to be able to find them in automotive specialty stores. I think it was a Pep Boy's in Parkersburg, WVA. Probably back in the late 50's. There were mains and rear caps of various oversize. I still have Prussian Blue and a Babbitt "scraper" which I've used every 10 years or so to fit them properly. That might have been a Western Auto store. Back then the Blennerhasset Hotel had a working fireplace in the lobby.

Is there a vendor or individual that can supply me with a "standard" rear main cap, either new cast or good used? Near 1.620.
Thanks, Don 508-362-9234

About a year ago someone was asking the same thing and a guy in the northwest, Washington or Oregon came to the rescue. I don't recall the name though.

A child of the 1950s, I still remember the thrill of a pix of a Model A in the upper LH corner of the Sears Roebuck catalog page - and a WHOLE PAGE of Model A parts that one could buy from Sears.

I've seen that pix online but a search didn't find.

I got one off of Ebay recently with good babbitt. It was an early '28or'29 and I had to use short bolts.

Joe, that one does not have any babbitt in it and I believe he is looking for one with the babbitt.

We may both be right. Babbitt but not so hot.

Another view. (small)

Thanks for pointing that out. Lest I lead somebody astray.
