Default Diamond sign on Block..

Hi..

Today i was on my store for old parts, and i have in the last many year buy a lot of used parts for Model A...
I saw on one of the engine, there was no number pads, so there is no Number on the Engine so i do not know when it was made , and in front of block after the valve cover was a littel " Diamond " logo ...

Is this just an aftermarket Block, or is it this "Diamond "Block.??

That 'diamond' that you located...and its' location would show this block to be a replacement block or aftermarket block. They are said to be a very good block (stronger/more reinforcement), if not cracked, and that would be good news, indeed !

It was made after the Model A stopped.

So today I learned that my Model A diamond block was made on Monday July 13, 1936, the hottest day recorded in Michigan. There was loss of life nation wide, "Detoit's experience was likened to a holocost." Quoted from here -

That Ford factory must have been a pretty warm place that day.

Interesting I have seen a few diamond blocks but they all had pads for the engine No
BTW the reason that diamond blocks are conceded to be slightly better is Henry Ford a very good metallurgist improved his formula as he developed new engines or as needed so diamond blocks or heads ect were cast with the formula of that time

Yeah...That nasty global warming! I didn't realize it was so much worse in 1936 than it is today.
