1936 vs 1937 sedan delivery questions
Hey guys and gals looking for some help here.
I'm curious as to the differences between the 36 and 37 sedan delivery. Obvious difference is front fenders grill and hood. Are the bodies the same and the rear fenders? Any input would greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! |

Re: 1936 vs 1937 sedan delivery questions
Hey Jared,
I can't be of much help since I don't know anything about 36's, but I do have a 37 and can comment on that if it arises. I appreciate staying in this loop. Certainly can share pics of my 37 SD as appropriate. gregg |

Re: 1936 vs 1937 sedan delivery questions
For one the windshield on the '37 is Vee'd.The 36 has a side reveal from the doors - length of the body all the way around. The '37 does not.So I would say not the same. The rear fenders might interchange.

Re: 1936 vs 1937 sedan delivery questions
Don't know all the details about the Sedan Delivery bodies, but “Here is the straight scoop on 35 to 38 rear fenders on Station Wagons and Sedan Deliveries.
1935 thru 1937 Station Wagons (790) used the same 1935 rears (48-16306/7) changing in 1938. 1935 thru 1937 Sedan Deliveries (780) used 1935 Rears (48-16302/3) but these rears were different from Station Wagon rears. 1938 Sedan Deliveries used a 1935 right rear fender and a new 1938 left rear fender. This information was taken from the 1935, 1936, 1937 and 1938 Chassis books, not the Green Bible”. |

Re: 1936 vs 1937 sedan delivery questions
1935 & 1936 Sedan Deliveries are basically the same with the exception of the firewalls. I think...the rear doors are all the same from 35-37.

Re: 1936 vs 1937 sedan delivery questions
The firewall and cowl on the 37 is totally different than the 35-36. Also the windshield opening on the 37 is totally different than the 35-36.

Re: 1936 vs 1937 sedan delivery questions
I know that this Thread is about the 1936 and 1937 Ford Sedan Deliveries, but I thought you might like to see what Ford Australia produced in 1938. In Australia, we called them Panel Vans, and they had a completely different body to the USA Sedan Delivery. This is one of very few survivors. They only came with the Standard Front Clip, as did the 1938 Utes. In 1939 Ford added the Deluxe model to the Panel Vans and Utes, so buyers got the choice between a Standard and deluxe. This was repeated in 1940, These were the only tow years that both models were offered. |
