I'm the same as Cecil. 2 39's, a 40 and a 47 Merc. No numbers except at the front and I really looked on all of them. Before and after the frames were sandblasted.

If you let yourself step back a bit you'll have to admit that this is one of the most humorous threads of all time. Not all of the replies, of course, but some of them are off the charts.

Is this the program in your (unspecified) state? All the clerks at the Northern Ca. DMV's that I deal with seem to abide by their own understanding/ interpretation of the laws/ rules.

If that was suggested by some one here, I would go talk to some one else. There's a non 800 number here that gets real people on the phone, and they seem to be able to come up with solid info that can be used at the local DMV. Your state could possibly have that also.

"I do know for sure that my frame number ahead of the firewall on the left side and the transmission cover match. I have every confidence that the font of the frame number is a correct one, too"

I don't understand the "problem"??

Hi there, Considering the frame number beside the steering box and the number on the transmission bell housing are the same then there is no problem. No need for any further action. Regards, Kevin.
