Default grease

does it matter what kind of grease I use to grease the front wheel bearings on the model a?do you need special bearing grease.anybody have a opinion on this.thanks

I just use bearing grease, nothing special.

I think any modern wheel bearing grease is just fine. I found some Lucas wheel bearing grease at our local Menards that seems very nice, seemed to have more "tack", I used it in my A's wheels bearings and on other bearings on other equipment, seems to stay in place very well.

30 - 40 years ago on the farm we used a very heavy tacky wheel bearing grease made by permatex with almost like little strings in it, was great in hay wagons, tractors, VW Bug wheel bearings.... however I can not find it anymore.

Whatever you use, make sure you solvent wash the old grease out completely. If you mix greases with incompatible bases the stuff will break down and fail in short order. Same goes for indiscriminately pumping new grease into zerks on top of an unknown old grease.
