Re: flex fan
Mike, I ran one for a couple of weeks while I was replacing the fan bearing on my '51. I believe I used a fan bracket from the '51 Merc engine I now have in my Ford because the fan bolted to it. I just tripped over the fan today at my shop. I'll look at it tomorrow to get the brand and diameter. You can have it for shipping if you want it. (I'm on a "downsizing" spree.)
As I remember it didn't cool as well as the stock fan, but I can't really be sure. |

Re: flex fan
I had a flex fan in my '34 for years. With a flathead , with a small block chevy and back to a flathead. I used to like the noise, as I got older I hated it.

However, I couldn't find that part #. Here's their website. https://derale.com/product-footer/be...ance-flex-fans Here's a photo. Below are close up photos of my DER1140 fan blade shape that may be helpful in finding a similar fan. I also have a shroud for my Griffin radiator. About 1/3 the fan blade depth goes in the shroud opening. Check out DERALE fans on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...an&_sacat=6000 Last edited by 19Fordy; 09-05-2019 at 08:58 PM. |

Re: flex fan
When I bought my '51 it had a flex fan on it. Didn't cool worth a damn! Would not hold paper in front of rad. at idle. Put a four blade Ford fan on and all is well. Holds paper to rad. at idle. The flex fan had no name on it just a tag that read "part#9115 made in USA".

Re: flex fan
When you buy an aftermarket fan, make sure the rotation is correct , I had a customer com in with a cooling problem ,it seems he bought an aftermarket fan that was for a later model ford that rotated the opposite direction.

Re: flex fan
Adapted a 7 blade flex-fan from a 70's vintage 6 cyl. Fairmont.
Pumps a lot of air and is quiet. (much better than stock)

Re: flex fan
Ross,
Don't have a shroud on my F-1 or '51. Neither have ever run hot after I got everything fixed properly. No trick parts or snake oil. |

Re: flex fan
Thanks again guys, but i pulled my fan 2day & checked very carefully for cracks. Not a trace. I re-installed the stock fan & will check it from time to time.
