How does an 8ba sound & act if valves are adjusted too tight? Lumpy idle & low compression? This is a fresh rebuild by a reputable builder. THANKS for any imput!!! mike

If exhaust valves are too tight you can hear it at the tail pipe, if intake valves you'd hear it popping back through the carb.

Too tight will result in a rough idle as will a few other things. Connecting a vacuum gauge or doing a compression check can determine if you have a problem with the valves or not.

The very first thing I would do is contact the builder! First you need his input and second if you mess with it without first contacting the builder you will most likely void any warranty.

I just checked vac...very low & needle jumps around a lot! Sounds like a valve issue since dizzy & carb are known good units....yes?

Compression should in the 120 range at least.

The first thing you will notice is the engine will have very low power until high RPM are reached.

JWL yup as rpm increases it sounds better & smoother.....thanks to each one of you for your thoughts! The builder will get the car & says they will make it right....God is good & i feel the builder is too.
