Late '31 shut off valve
I am attempting to clean old varnish from my late '31 gas tank. I am having good luck with denatured alcohol. The process would move along much faster if I could replace the shut off valve on the tank with a barbed fitting. Does anyone know the tread size/count of the male adapter that would screw into the tank fitting?
My thought would be to drain the tank with this fitting attached to a hose. Any help would be great. |

Re: Late '31 shut off valve
So your wanting to remove the valve and screw a fitting into the tank? 3/8 NPT You’ll want to clean out trough just inside of the removed valve .

Re: Late '31 shut off valve
When you get it all clean, do yourself a favor and solder a pencil filter to the inlet of your new valve. It will reduce the chance of damaging the valve seat and a leaky valve if other debris makes its way through.
