Marvel inverse oiler
Guten Abend,
I installed an Inverse Marvel Oiler over the winter. Unfortunately it doesn't work properly. He fizzles out a lot of MMO and that when idling and driving on. I closed the control screw to <10°. But the apparatus does not deliver at engine load, but at idle speed after stopping when I go on to drive. Some ideas?

Re: Marvel inverse oiler
Hallo Werner,
from my understanding while idling the intake will have a lower absolute pressure than when the throttle plate is opened. I would guess that you have to reroute the oiler to right before the throttle plate for it to work like intended. There you should have high static pressure when idling and low stat. pressure when driving. Grüße, Daniel EDIT: Can you add a small 90° tube to the outlet of the oiler? Then it should work with the current setup as well. Last edited by bavArian; 04-04-2022 at 02:16 AM. |

Re: Marvel inverse oiler
Servus Daniel,
what you write is correct in principle. But an 'inverse' oiler works the other way round, which is its patent. The higher the vacuum, the lower the oil dosage. This is the only correct way, because the additional oiling is mainly needed when there is a high engine power. This is the important difference in the function of the "Marvel Inverse Oiler" compared to the simple "Ampco Oiler".

Re: Marvel inverse oiler
Mahlzeit Werner,
then I'd probably take the oiler out of the vehicle and bench-test it. There must be an error within the oiler itself then if it is supposed to work as you described. I don't think you can test it properly in the car. Gruß, Daniel |

Re: Marvel inverse oiler
I suggest you put the Marvel oil in the gasoline. That way you will get less when idling and more under load. Plus it will help lubricate and keep clean the fuel system components.
Otherwise, take the oiler apart to see what is stuck or not working correctly.

I still haven't figured out why my Marvel Inverter is giving a lot of oil at idle and none under load. I disassembled everything again and see no mistake. I drew a functional picture. Did I understand the function correctly? When idling, the high vacuum pulls the diaphragm 3 to the left against the needle valve 1 and closes the nozzle 2. With increasing engine speed, the vacuum decreases, the valve opens slightly and sucks oil from 6, which runs through the tiny gutter 4 and sight glass into the vacuum line to the carburetor. Right? (The tiny balancing hole 5 is free and clean. The two springs are mixed up in the photo.)

Re: Marvel inverse oiler
My additional question is if anyone knows what #5 the tiny vent hole to the vacuum side is supposed to do.
